MISSION STATEMENT

We designed this website to educate and inspire the use of renewable energy to reduce carbon emissions. Designed for submission to the U.S. Department of Energy 2021 Geothermal Collegiate Competition, this site focuses on the benefits of using geothermal energy, highlights the current systems on Notre Dame’s main campus, and proposes a new geothermal system addition. The project team believes potential users will find the information contained herein to be a helpful resource and tool for exploring geothermal energy.

Home: About Me

It is important to seek and understand the perspectives of stakeholders before implementing any large-scale capital project. We spoke with University officials, golf course employees, and students to consider their perspectives as part of the case study to expand the use of geothermal energy at Notre Dame.

"The goal of Notre Dame's geothermal projects has been to diversify energy resources and improve sustainability on campus."

Paul Kempf (Assistant VP of Utilities and Maintenance)

"This project would be an opportunity to improve the golf course; however, the disruption to golf course usage would be concerning."

Cody Risedorph (Burke Golf Course Golf Pro)

"Geothermal energy could provide an example to students and visitors that renewable energy solutions are possible."

Sam Bosio (Student)
